Insane climate of politics causes mild mannered young man to blog.

First off I'll let you in on a little secret. There is an election coming up in the near future. I know, I know. Big shocker right. Well, this has, as I'm sure it has for most everyone else, had a major impact on my daily life. I mean, it has affected the television I watch, what I talk about when I'm at work, what I think about when my mind wanders, what I look up on my iPhone when I get bored, and so on and so forth. The overwhelming reason for this it seems, other than the obvious fact that there really is no way to get away from the election cycle talking heads, is that I have the great misfortune of feeling unrepresented by either one of the candidates.
Let's see... Well there is current President Obama. No thanks. While the idea of Obama is pretty nice, in practice he seems to be at least as much of a war monger as his predecessor. Then there is Romney. Again no thanks. While I do agree with his economic plans, I just really can't get behind any kind of foreign policy strategy that doesn't involve bringing every single one of our troops home, both for the obvious reasons and also this: Why would we pay a foreign government rent so we can protect them from potential aggressors? This is just an example, but shouldn't South Korea be paying us to be there?
Well President Obama has, for the most part, been a disappointment in my opinion. It's very sad to me that our country elected a person that we knew so precious little about. The media has espoused his idea's and basically became the place with which to find the numerous democrat talking points repeated at you while constantly being berated as a racist if you dare say you will vote otherwise. The funny part in all of this is that the narrative of "racial bigotry" has been espoused by the Obama campaign as evidenced by Biden's "put y'all back in chains" comment. The fact that MSNBC has also paraded around calling voter ID laws racist and voter suppression also feeds into this narrative.  Further disappointments include but are not limited to Obamacare (in a recession none the less), not so much Fast and Furious, but the use of executive privilege to hide documents from congress, the emphasis on green technologies that would be invested in by the private sector if the government would stop propping up energy conglomerates, and the racial narrative in a supposedly post racial society.
All that being said, I'm not entirely sold on Romney, either.  I will go ahead and state that I voted for Romney mainly for short term reasons.  I seriously believe that business will pick up immediately after his election and provide for me some of the opportunities I have been seeking, but the companies in question are not currently hiring do to the impending implementation of Obamacare and the tax raises Obama wishes to implement.  Some of the issues I have with Romney include, but are not limited to, his questionable resolve, in that he seems to change position on issues in order to engage the audience of the time, his lack of foreign policy experience, and his inability to actually finish off the President in the debates when he seemingly had the ammo and the motive.  The President's record is his liability, and somehow he made it through the debates without too many issues.
In the end, this really is just my thoughts on the upcoming election.  Anyone who happens to read this, please note that anything else I write will be more researched and not just my thoughts. Maybe a little of those in there.  Well if you made it through this, and have any comments or suggestions, I would definitely appreciate them.  Whether you agree with me or not.  Thank you.
