The teaching class. Or teaching class. Well I guess I'm confused.

There is something that became apparent to me at a very early age, and that is, the people administering our classrooms are scared.  Why, you might ask?  It's actually a pretty simple answer.  Most of the people teaching our children were mediocre to poor students!!  I am of average intelligence, I believe, but it was very apparent to me around about the 6th grade that I was more capable of understanding the subject matter at hand than over half of my teachers.  This disparity only became more apparent as I progressed through public education.  I actually had a geography teacher in 9th grade refer to Mesopotamia as, phonetically, "mess-o-pot-o-me-uh."  Long story short, I got detention for correcting her.  Why do you think so many of them are union members. Here's a quote from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:  "Within the public sector, local government workers had the highest union membership rate, 43.2 percent. This group includes workers in heavily unionized occupations, such as teachers, police officers, and firefighters." link.  http://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.nr0.htm
That's pretty sobering, huh?  Check this out. "Of the $26 million in federal campaign contributions by the American Federation of Teachers, 99 percent has gone to Democrats or the Democratic Party (Center for Responsive Politics 2009)." link.  http://www.cato.org/pubs/journal/cj30n1/cj30n1-8.pdf  Also according to this report, 3.5 million of our public school teachers are unionized, which comes to about 70%.  To be perfectly honest with you, as a helicopter mechanic, all of the people I worked with that came from union shops and embraced them (the unions) were absolutely worthless.  Those who hated the unions, by the way, were some of the best people I have ever worked with (work ethic and skills).
Here's were I start my rant.  Public educators continue to beat their collective chest's and complain about lack of funding and parent participation.  First of all, I think they are over funded, because there is not one single thing they could teach you that you couldn't learn on your own by means of individual study.  That being said, it's not hard to understand why there seems to be a disconnect between parents and the teacher's (union).  Let's say, I don't know, that somebody takes your child from you, at the age of 5, and begins to fill there head with ideas that are counter to your own.  You have no say in the matter, you just have to grin and bear it because mother government says so.  You'd do what you can with the time you have and hope for the best.  Right?  I hope this does away with the liberal myth of "the hard working teacher."  Real teachers do what they can with what they have.  Those who can't... teach.  Those who have done... mentor.

Insane climate of politics causes mild mannered young man to blog.

First off I'll let you in on a little secret. There is an election coming up in the near future. I know, I know. Big shocker right. Well, this has, as I'm sure it has for most everyone else, had a major impact on my daily life. I mean, it has affected the television I watch, what I talk about when I'm at work, what I think about when my mind wanders, what I look up on my iPhone when I get bored, and so on and so forth. The overwhelming reason for this it seems, other than the obvious fact that there really is no way to get away from the election cycle talking heads, is that I have the great misfortune of feeling unrepresented by either one of the candidates.
Let's see... Well there is current President Obama. No thanks. While the idea of Obama is pretty nice, in practice he seems to be at least as much of a war monger as his predecessor. Then there is Romney. Again no thanks. While I do agree with his economic plans, I just really can't get behind any kind of foreign policy strategy that doesn't involve bringing every single one of our troops home, both for the obvious reasons and also this: Why would we pay a foreign government rent so we can protect them from potential aggressors? This is just an example, but shouldn't South Korea be paying us to be there?
Well President Obama has, for the most part, been a disappointment in my opinion. It's very sad to me that our country elected a person that we knew so precious little about. The media has espoused his idea's and basically became the place with which to find the numerous democrat talking points repeated at you while constantly being berated as a racist if you dare say you will vote otherwise. The funny part in all of this is that the narrative of "racial bigotry" has been espoused by the Obama campaign as evidenced by Biden's "put y'all back in chains" comment. The fact that MSNBC has also paraded around calling voter ID laws racist and voter suppression also feeds into this narrative.  Further disappointments include but are not limited to Obamacare (in a recession none the less), not so much Fast and Furious, but the use of executive privilege to hide documents from congress, the emphasis on green technologies that would be invested in by the private sector if the government would stop propping up energy conglomerates, and the racial narrative in a supposedly post racial society.
All that being said, I'm not entirely sold on Romney, either.  I will go ahead and state that I voted for Romney mainly for short term reasons.  I seriously believe that business will pick up immediately after his election and provide for me some of the opportunities I have been seeking, but the companies in question are not currently hiring do to the impending implementation of Obamacare and the tax raises Obama wishes to implement.  Some of the issues I have with Romney include, but are not limited to, his questionable resolve, in that he seems to change position on issues in order to engage the audience of the time, his lack of foreign policy experience, and his inability to actually finish off the President in the debates when he seemingly had the ammo and the motive.  The President's record is his liability, and somehow he made it through the debates without too many issues.
In the end, this really is just my thoughts on the upcoming election.  Anyone who happens to read this, please note that anything else I write will be more researched and not just my thoughts. Maybe a little of those in there.  Well if you made it through this, and have any comments or suggestions, I would definitely appreciate them.  Whether you agree with me or not.  Thank you.
